6/11/22 TCS New York Marathon 2022

Congratulations to Suzanne Kennedy, Suzanne Dickey and Chris Dickey who travelled across “the pond” to New York for the 2022 marathon (which turned out to be the hottest event in the marathons history, with temperatures of 25 degrees and humidity of 80%!), which weaves runners through all five boroughs of New York – Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx.

The heat and humidity made things hard right from the start and continued to pile the pressure on all the runners. With water stations running out of water and medical tents filling up fast, a brief respite by way of a bit of rain and cloudy skies helped to ease the burden. With so many people struggling and taking unwell we were all glad to cross that line in one piece. Whilst it may not have been the race we hoped for, it will live long in our memories, and we got a nice shiny medal for our temporary pain. Suzanne K added her 5th major star to her collection (her fifth this year, four of which were added in the past few months), Chris added his 2nd and Suzanne D got her first star. Well done all!

14/10/22 Trainer Donation to Belfast Homeless Services

County Antrim Harriers were delighted to again support the marvelous work of Belfast Homeless Services, by donating used trainers. The Club was able donate over 30 pairs. Carol Conn who, did all the heavy lifting and dropping off all the bags to the charity on the Club’s behalf, added another 20 pairs she had collected. Super teamwork.
