Congratulations to John Holmes for running in perfect weather conditions today for the Sperrin Harriers 10 mile trail race at Parkanaur, Dungannon. This was the last race of the Winter series.
Congratulations to Donna Kidd (right) who completed her 25th milestone parkrun this morning at Sixmilewater.
Donna was graduate of the 2022 C25K programme and has been a dedicated runner and Club member ever since. We are all very proud of you and your great achievement Donna.
County Antrim Harriers are proud to support the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council time capsule. The club have donated a club vest, May Fair race series medal and a photo of the club members taken at Raymond Hillman’s memorial run.
Lots of different organisations and individuals have donated to the time capsule which will be installed in Centenary Way at the Sixmilewater park. The club was represented by Colin Gilmore (Club Chairman), Chris Dickey (PRO) and Margaret Beattie (Assistant Secretary – not pictured).
Congratulations to Irene on her 300th ParkRun! Irene celebrated this amazing milestone at the Sixmilewater event, supported by County Antrim Harriers, and fueled by cake.
The Club is very proud of both the selection of and the strong performances by cross county enthusiasts, Wendy Forsythe and Margaret Beattie at the British and Irish International XC in Santry, Dublin on Saturday.
Wendy was the only female from Northern Ireland in her age group (F70); and Margaret who was the reserve for the F60 category, ran in the open race. Both gave their all and crossed the line with a sprint finish and trademark smiles.
Congratulations to Suzanne Kennedy, Suzanne Dickey and Chris Dickey who travelled across “the pond” to New York for the 2022 marathon (which turned out to be the hottest event in the marathons history, with temperatures of 25 degrees and humidity of 80%!), which weaves runners through all five boroughs of New York – Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx.
The heat and humidity made things hard right from the start and continued to pile the pressure on all the runners. With water stations running out of water and medical tents filling up fast, a brief respite by way of a bit of rain and cloudy skies helped to ease the burden. With so many people struggling and taking unwell we were all glad to cross that line in one piece. Whilst it may not have been the race we hoped for, it will live long in our memories, and we got a nice shiny medal for our temporary pain. Suzanne K added her 5th major star to her collection (her fifth this year, four of which were added in the past few months), Chris added his 2nd and Suzanne D got her first star. Well done all!
