13/1/18 Memorial ParkRun

On Saturday 13th January over thirty members of County Antrim Harriers joined with many regulars of Waterworks ParkRun, to celebrate the life of their member John Purse, who sadly passed away in September, as well as support his partner Grace (also a Club member). Members agreed the morning was a fitting tribute to John, a regular ParkRunner, and Colin Gilmore, Club Chair, said “it was a privilege to get the chance to show how much John was liked and respected by the CAH family.”

1/1/18 County Antrim Harriers Run In the New Year

Eight Harriers started the new year as they meant to go on, taking on the tough testing Race Over The Glens (and the first race in the Clubs new Race Series).  The 5.3 mile route took racers through forest park trails, past the iconic Glenariff waterfall, with steep inclines and downhills, and up 100 steps! All ran strongly and special mention to Jana Ross who came third female overall and Louise Smart who won her age category.

6/12/17 New Club Race Series Announced

The Club is pleased to announce the introduction of a Race Series for 2018! The Series is open to all registered members; and includes races over a range of distances and terrains, so there is something for everyone. It’s not about being the fastest, as points will be awarded for a range of things including: taking part; improvements in your race time; and distance debuts.  While there are 12 races in the Race Series, only points from a maximum of 6 races count.
We hope members will want to participate in the Race Series and enjoy the challenge of tackling races. Results and prizes will be announced at our AGM.
Full details can be found on the Race Series Page, found here.

26/11/17 Cyprus International 4 Day Challenge

Well done to Stuart Gowans who competed in and completed the extremely tough Cyprus International 4 Day Challenge.  The unique multi-staged running event, covering a total distance 42k, combined a 6k time trial, an 11k (mostly) uphill mountain trail run, a multi-terrain half marathon, and a 10k City Run over four days.  Stuart performed strongly in each event, and finished with a total time of 4:02:12, and a very respectable eighth in his age group!
