14/1/22 #SheWasGoingForARun
In reaction to the tragic murder of Ashling Murphy, a fellow runner, we would like to remind our members to use our Club FaceBook page to organise group runs. There may be runners in the club who usually run alone that would love to meet up with others. You could be making an isolated club member feel safe and included by posting an open invite there. Please don’t stop doing the hobby we all love through fear.

(Update – Julie is continuing her running streak with RED December 2021!)

6/11/21 Successful Cross County Debuts & Wins
County Antrim Harrier ladies had another successful cross-country outing on Saturday (6/11), this time on home turf, at the 86th running of McConnell Shield.
The Magnificent Seven headed off around the three lap course, taking the hills and sloped gradients in their stride. All ran strongly and had enough left in the tank to sprint to the finish line. Special mention to Margaret Waterfield, Alison Henderson and Davina Catherwood for whom the race was their cross county debut; and also to Alison (VF60) and Wendy Forsythe (VF70) on their age category wins!
The ladies were well supported along the race route by Club friends – and who also enjoyed sharing the mandatory CAH post race picnic!

3/10/21 County Antrim Harriers impress over Marathon Miles
It was another successful weekend for County Antrim Harriers, with 13 members taking part the long awaited “live” marathons in London and Belfast on Sunday (3rd October). Everyone produced magnificent performances and their results are a testament to their fastidious training and hard work
In Belfast, in bright but chilled conditions, seven Harriers toed the line at Stormont Estate to start their journey through the city to finish at Ormeau Park. There were a few showers but these helped refresh the runners, as did the good crowd support. All gave their best with special mention to Louise Holmes and Johnny Loughead on their excellent marathon debuts. Chris Hopkins, in fine form, crossed the line, in a superb PB time of 2:35:11, (13th overall), and set another Club Record! Suzanne Kennedy pacing herself perfectly, crossed the line in 3:47:26 PB; followed by distance debutants Johnny Loughead (4:11:18) and Louise Holmes (4:27:14). Irene Downey clocked a strong 4:37:48; while Louise Smart and Claire Oliphant completed the distance in fancy dress bringing smiles to other racers and spectators. Club member, Sean Pagel, part of a two-man relay team, covered his sections of the course (16 miles) with ease.
Across the Irish Sea, five members took to the streets of capital for the Virgin Money London Marathon. First home for the Club, in a superb PB time of 3:24:38 was Aaron Anderson; followed by Alexandra McLaughlin (3:37:27 PB); and Sarah Kinnear (3:46:09). Patrick McLain (4:21:27) and Chris Dickey (4:32:32 PB) also ran well. Well done all.

24/9/21 “Running Together”
County Antrim Harriers, along with Sixmilewater ParkRun and East Antrim Harriers AC, hosted a “Running Together” stand at the “Together for Ballyclare” event at the Town Hall. It was a good opportunity to chat to local people about running in the town.

12/9/21 Podium Place for Helen at Nutts Corner
Super running by the Collins family at the Run-Anon 5k Race around the circuit at Nutts Corner- with Holly (running for North Belfast Harriers) placing second; and mum Helen placing third in 19:50!
11/9/21 Chris Sets Another Club Record
Congratulations to Chris Hopkins on setting yet another Club record! Chris flew round the Sixmile ParkRun (5k) course, this morning, in a superb 16:12 … resetting the record he set in March 2020 at Antrim ParkRun!
